How do I close my account?

You can close your Stash Invest at any time. The process is easy and takes a few simple steps.

First, if you have Auto-Stash or Smart-Save turned on, you will need to turn off both. This ensures that no further transfers are pulled from your bank. To learn how to turn off or reschedule your Auto-Stash, click here. To learn how to turn off Smart-Save, click here.

Next, you need to sell all your investments. To learn how to do so, click here.

After all your investments are sold it takes 2 business days for the sales to settle (as designated by SEC regulation). After the settlement period, you can withdraw funds to your bank account, provided they have been in your Stash account for at least 5 business days. This 5-day hold is intended to prevent fraudulent activity on your account.

Please note: Stash does not charge a fee if you have no money in your Stash account for the full 30 previous days. If you wish to preserve your account, you may do so free of charge.

If you don’t want to preserve your account, contact us with your request and we will permanently close your account.
