How do I close my account?

Are you sure you want to close your account? Stash does not charge a fee if you have no money in your Stash account for the full 30 previous days. If you wish to preserve your account, you may do so free of charge.
Still want to close your account? You can do so through the following steps:
- Turn off Auto-Stash and Smart-Save to ensure that no further transfers are pulled from your bank. To learn how to turn off Auto-Stash, click here. To learn how to turn off Smart-Save, click here.
- Sell all of your investments (it takes 2 business days for the money to settle after you sell your investments).
- After the settlement period, you can withdraw funds to your bank account, provided they have been in your Stash account for at least 5 business days.
- If you close your account, you will still receive your final account statement for the last month the account was open. You may also receive transaction notifications for transactions that occurred while your account was open.

Please note: there is no Stash fee when you have no money in your Stash account. However, you may be charged a final fee based on an average daily balance calculated over the last 30 day period.
Q. I signed up for a Stash Retire account only. Is it possible to now sign up for a personal Invest account?
If you wish to sign up for a personal Invest account after signing up for Stash Retire, you can do so on the web here. Unfortunately, there is no way to register for Invest from the app at this time. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Q. I didn’t finish signing up for Stash Retire. How do I complete my registration?
If you do not complete the web registration process for a Stash Retire account you can finish using your mobile app if you are on an iOS device. If you use an Android device, you will be directed back to the Retire registration webpage.
Q. My family member has passed away what do I need to do to close their Stash account?
